Privatisation of Botswana Telecom

SL Consulting Ltd was of a team of advisors to the Botswana government, ensuring that the separation and IPO of Botswana telecom is successfully achieved. It was responsible for process and systems separation for the formation of a new SPV, BoFiNet (Botswana Fibre Networks), prior to IPO. Advisor to BoFiNet on their launch strategy. Negotiation of a managed outsource agreement for BoFiNet. A detailed opex benchmarking was carried out on Botswana Telecom making recommendations for bringing its cost base into line with peer organisations.

New MVNE/MVNO business in Saudi Arabia

An established mobile operator in KSA wanted to build an MVNE platform in order to offer wholesale services to new MVNOs and also launch an in-house sub-brand on the same platform. We carried out a detailed review of the organisation’s capabilities and developed an architecture model which would allow them to achieve these aims in a cost effective way. We went on to run a competitive tender and select a vendor that would be a good partner for this client, maximising the chances of a successful outcome.

National Roaming Strategy for an LTE operator

We developed a national roaming strategy and target network architecture for a new LTE operator in Eastern Europe. The client had been awarded an LTE licence and wanted to enter into a wholesale relationship with an existing 3G service provider. We offered advise on the technology options and how this could be aligned with their business objectives. The client was able to commence commercial discussions with a clear understanding of the solution they wanted to pursue.

Customer Care and Billing system replacement
in Eastern Africa

Our client was a pay TV provider in Eastern Africa who needed to replace a legacy customer care and billing system that was not meeting the needs of the business. We undertook a detailed review of the organisation, taking time to understand where process inefficiencies lay and where the major pain-points were. We then created a target OSS/BSS environment and developed a plan for how to realise this. Once we were clear about the business needs, we evaluated suppliers against those needs and selected a solution provider who could deliver the functionality taking into account the clients available budget.
