About SL Consulting Ltd

SL Consulting Ltd offers independent advice and support to service providers helping them to run their operations more efficiently, develop new revenue streams by launching new products and services, and enter new markets. SL Consulting Ltd is owned and run by Steve Lewis and works with service providers, investors and other consulting firms on a project basis. SL Consulting Ltd draws upon a network of likeminded specialists to form teams with the right skills to complete a specific objective and frequently collaborates with larger consulting consulting companies where it is in the interests of the client.

A typical project would be the introduction of a new technology platform, for example a BSS system or an MVNO. This is almost always more complex than selecting a vendor and awarding a contract. Our approach is to understand the clients business and strategic objectives, and determine what capabilities the organisation currently has, and where the gaps are. This has a significant baring on the type of solution that is needed.

Initial requirements capture and analysis would be undertaken, leading to process and solutions design. We would then run a competitive tender with a definite target architecture in mind drawing upon contacts and relationships with major solutions vendors, and current knowledge of their product capabilities. Commercial discussions with a short list of vendors would take place and once mutually acceptable commercial terms are agreed then the contract is awarded. SL Consulting Ltd would then put a team together to run the implementation project, ensuring that the vendor delivered against the solution, that the scope is effectively managed, that the vendor remains focused on the needs of the business and that the impact of changes to requirements do not compromise the planned benefits, costs or timescales.

About Steve Lewis

Steve graduated from Newcastle University in the UK with an MEng in Microelectronics and Software Engineering. In his early career Steve held technical and engineering roles at Vodafone and BT in the UK, before moving into software development with Tertio Telecoms (now Evolving Systems) where he spent six years working on OSS software products and developing solutions for service providers around the world. He then returned to BT Professional Services as a Solutions Architect and was responsible for some large complex OSS/BSS integration projects. Steve spent three years at Analysys Mason as a management consultant focusing on OSS/BSS advice and new MVNO launches before taking a temporary commercial role at Lycamobile during which time he launched Lycamobile Australia. In 2011 he joined PrimeTel PLC in Cyprus as CTO running an extensive business transformation programme, launching an MVNO and carrying out a full refresh of their OSS/BSS estate. He started SL Consulting Ltd in 2013. In addition to an MEng, Steve has an MBA from Durham University and an MA from the Open University. Steve is certified for Lean Six Sigma and ITIL, is a Member of the Institute for Engineering and Technology (IET) and a Chartered Engineer.
